About Lakes for All

We are a small family business, passionate about the Lake District and sharing it with all.

Our story begins back in 2009 when Katy was undertaking a project for Visit England as part of her degree that highlighted the severe lack of accessible accommodation where we live. Both passionate about getting more people to enjoy the outdoors and the Lakes, it sparked a conversation between us and the idea of an accessible accommodation in Cumbria. Lakes For All was born.

Fast forward 12 years, a lot of saving, and finally in 2022 we decided to make our dream business into a reality. As you can imagine, after such a long time we had big ideas. Little did we know how hard it would be to find a suitable property. Why someone would build a bungalow with 10+ steps to get to it is beyond us!

Finally in 2023, we found Rose Cottage, a new build bungalow we could adapt as it was built.

Of course there has been a lot of learning along the way, and a few surprises too. Including a new addition due to join the family business, having found out we were expecting a baby 2 months into the build. We guess that’s what is meant by growing a family business!

We have learnt a lot and still have much to learn and are keen to learn from our guests how we can improve our accessibility offering. What we can guarantee is that we know what makes great holidays, with Katy working almost two decades in adventure travel around the world, and Jack a chief engineer on expedition yachts, we know quality hospitality.

We are passionate about the Lake District and its attractions, know the value of a personal touch and the importance of supporting our local community. You will find these values in everything we do.

Our Ethos

We are passionate about where we live, being in the great outdoors and ensuring it can be enjoyed by all. We strive to be a positive contribution to our local economy, community and environment through offering luxury accessible accommodation in the Lake District. We believe in showcasing fantastic local suppliers and attractions and the accessible features they hold, and want to promote the integration of better accessibility not only in our own luxury retreats, but our local area.

Our Family

Comprising of Katy, Jack, Amelia and bump, we are the Lakes For All family. Katy is responsible for the day to day running of the business and will usually be the person answering your enquiries while Jack is busy working at sea for half the year. When he is home we soon put him to work maintaining and up keeping the properties.

As a young family we have explored many of the lakes attractions and tried and tested many of the accessible walks in the area. We have some fantastic recommendations for you, which we like to share on our social media to help you plan your stay with us.

As a small business we are keen to improve and welcome the feedback from our guests. We hope you love Rose Cottage and the Lake District as much as we do.
