Rose Cottage is a Wheelchair Accessible Bungalow with a Hoist and Profile Bed in the Lake District. Our 3 bedroom bungalow is on a brand new estate, a stones throw from Lowther Castle (an accessible attraction/walking route).
About our Cottage
This luxury retreat has everything you need for a home away from home, sleeping up to 7 guests, with 3 beautifully appointed bedrooms, plus a sofa bed in the living room. With one king bedroom, one twin bedroom, and a single accessible bedroom fitted with a profiling bed and h-track ceiling hoist through to an adjoining wet room, Rose Cottage is built with families and those with accessibility requirements in mind.
In addition to the 3 bedrooms the cottage hosts a spacious living room with sofa bed complete with sensory corner and a selection of family games, a family bathroom and a Freedom by Symphony designed kitchen/diner to facilitate maximum independence during your stay. Fitted with all the additional facilities you may need plus lots of little luxuries too – John Lewis Egyptian cotton bedding, White Company towels and luxury handmade Pure Lakes toiletries – Rose Cottage has everything you need for a stress free get away.
The property also has private parking for up to two vehicles, and an enclosed patio and garden looking onto the woodland behind the property making Rose Cottage the ideal place to unwind and connect with nature.

How to Get Here
Located just off the A6 with easy access from the M6 and A66, Rose Cottage benefits from being accessible from every direction with easy access into the northern and central Lake District. In addition, being just 10 minutes from Penrith and its accessible train station, you can make use of the fantastic direct rail links from London Euston, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Southbound on the M6
Exit at junction 40. Take the 2nd exit from the roundabout heading East on the A66. At the second roundabout take the 4th exit following signs for Shap / A6.
Northbound on the M6
Exit at junction 39 and turn left for Shap. Follow the A6 north until you come through Hackthorpe.
Travelling by train
Penrith Train Station has direct links from London Euston, Glasgow and Edinburgh has step free access to both platforms and an accessible toilet on platform 1. Staff help is available during certain times, please check here. Turn up and go is available but pre-booking is recommended.

Sadly, at present, there are no wheelchair accessible taxis available in Penrith itself. However, it is possible to pre-book a wheelchair accessible vehicle with the following taxi firm based in Carlisle.
