First check our availability calendar and prices for your preferred dates. Follow the steps on Free To Book to make your booking. Please note that a 30% non-refundable deposit is taken at the time of booking. The full balance, plus a refundable £300 security deposit, is required 8 weeks / 56 days before departure. If you are making a booking for arrival within 8 weeks, the full amount plus the security deposit is required at the time of booking.
We operate on a 3, 4 , or 7 night basis with check-ins on Mondays and Fridays only. We also offer a discount for stays of 7 nights or more.
For customers choosing to stay longer than 7 nights we arrange a time with you on day 8 of your stay to pop by and change the linens and give the cottage a clean while you enjoy your day. After all, you are on your holidays. We want you to be able to relax and enjoy your stay, not be worrying about housework.
Check in is from 3pm on the day of your arrival. We offer the option of an in person check-in for arrivals before 6pm. This is an opportunity to welcome you, run through all the amenities and answer any questions you may have. If you prefer to do your own thing after a long journey then we are available by phone 24/7.
Check out is at 10am on your departure day. We ask that you please check out on time to ensure we have time to prepare for our next guests.
Yes, we welcome dogs at Rose Cottage and charge a fee. Dogs must be booked in advance of your stay. This allows us to ensure the same high levels of cleanliness and service for all our guests. Please see our Dog Friendly page for more details.
Yes. We have a travel cot, highchair, toilet seat, step and plastic crockery and cutlery at the property so you can enjoy your stay without having to pack additional items. For health and safety purposes we do not supply bedding for the cot so please do pack as required.
Yes. Due to space restrictions, our accessible room at Rose Cottage is a single profile bed. However, we do have the option of a z-bed we can provide upon request. This can be placed within the room when wheelchair access is not required.
Yes. In summer 2025 we were delighted to add a Repose Madison Rise Recline Porter Chair to Rose Cottage to add more comfort to your stay. The chair is medium size to fit most people.
Yes. We are more than happy for you to arrange delivery of additional hire equipment or oxygen you require during your stay. It is vital that you please contact us in advance to discuss the best time for delivery/collection so we can ensure we can have someone onsite to receive the delivery.
Yes, you will find a small convenience store in nearby Askham village. Pooley Bridge is also located just 6 miles away where you will find a host of cafes, restaurants, post office, farm shop and a gin shop too, so you can get any essentials you may need. For a wider selection of supermarkets we suggest you visit Penrith where you can also arrange click and collect with Morrisons, Marks and Spencer or Sainsburys.
Rheged is located less than 15 minutes from Rose Cottage and is an excellent accessible attraction with a Changing Places added to the venue in 2024. Cumbria and the Lake District are improving their facilities, check out this link to find the most recent additions.
